Pastor Scott Barry Taylor
(September 23, 1959 – June 20, 2018)

The Scott B. Taylor Memorial Fund honors the life and legacy of Scott B. Taylor.

Scott was a devoted husband, loving father, brother, pastor, and engineer who was known for his friendly personality and bright smile. Along with his wife, he was the co-founder of Good News Bible Church in Gaithersburg, MD, and Good News Global Ministries in Wesley Chapel Florida. Scott served as senior pastor until his health failed in 2010. He trained and mentored preachers in and outside of his local church and taught professionally with the various companies that employed him for over three decades.

Scott battled Hodgkin’s lymphoma twice. Two years after an autologous stem cell transplant, which left him cancer-free, doctors diagnosed him with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), a rare autoimmune disease. Also known as Devic’s disease occurs when the immune system mistakes normal tissues of the central nervous system as being foreign. As a result, the immune system attacks the healthy tissue.

Scott was passionate about educating others on how to care for the NMOSD patient. His wife Evelyn was his caregiver during the last decade of his life. As we remember Scott and recall his faith in God, his love for family, and his loyalty to the Green Bay Packers, please consider making a gift in his memory to support caregivers.

His greatest legacy is that of a supportive husband, loving father, generous friend, and a man with a contagious love for God.

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased” -Hebrews 13:16 NIV

The Taylors’ book titled, See Me, Hear Me, Know Me, from The Heart of a Caregiver is a valuable resource that has inspired many caregivers. Scott understood the plight of a caregiver and knew the importance of caregivers taking care of themselves. He hoped to share the message of appreciation for those who care for loved ones and often neglect their own care. Self-care for the caregiver is vital in order for the caregiver to continue caring for their loved ones and to maintain their own health. Dr. Taylor continues to share her husband’s message of appreciation to caregivers by speaking at local hospitals and other caregiver support groups.
